A little bit about our judge Andrea Maltas
I am honoured to be asked to judge your show, and hope you understand how much your breed means to me. I thank you in advance for your entries and hopefully we will all have a great day.
For those who don’t my background here is a brief summary.
I was born with two Danes at home; my parents owned a Black Male ‘Castor of Gaymiles’ and a Harlequin bitch ‘Claudella of Gaymiles both bred by Charlie & Shirley Verity ‘Gaymiles’. My sister, brother and I loved visiting Charlie & Shirley, exploring their outbuildings and the outside toilet! As a young teenager along with mum and dad we were on the same committee as Shirley. After Charlie had passed away mum and I took Shirley to a couple or her judging appointments, we were close to Shirley, she even came to mine and my sisters weddings.
After the Danes mum wanted to get back into showing and in 1983 she got a GSD who proved to be a great foundation bitch. Her offspring produced multiple CC & RCC winners, along with Champions. I began handling these when I was about 15 years old
Whilst showing the GSD’s both mum and I began admiring the Rottweilers as we were all in the same group back then. Mum purchased a male in the earlv ’90’s he was shown along with the GSD’s. A few years later I bought a bitch, I then homed a male who I had campaigned to his title. Our bitch achieved numerous CCs and RCCS. Breeding on these lines has produced CC & RCC winners and Champions owned and bred by ourselves, my daughter Danielle and others.
Whilst I don’t own a Great Dane I have handled for friends for the last 10 years, where top honours have been achieved, including CC’s, RCC’s, BIS BVIS at club show level across all colours. I have also handled In the following breeds for friends:
Russian Black Terriers – Handling from puppies and achieving such high honours for a Non CC breed; Top Dog, Top Bitch, Top RBT, handling to Top RBT for 3 or 4 years to enable them to compete at The Contest of Champions
Dogue De Bordeaux – achieving many wins, CCs & RCCs, representing in groups and being shortlisted also gaining a place in the Junior Group at Blackpool
I give CCs in Rottwellers. GSDs and Dogue De Bordeaux and I’m on Level 4 for Russian Black Terriers. I am also a mentor in Rottweilers and Russian Black Terriers.
Over the years I have judged a number of other breeds and always take each appointment seriously with research on the breeds being judged.
