2022 Members Limited Show

Great Dane Club – Members Limited Show – Saturday 6^th August 2022.

I would like to thank the committee of the Great Dane Club for inviting me to judge at their members Limited Show on Saturday 6^th August 2022, also to my very able Stewards – Tracy Rowe and Audrey Haigh for their professional assistance throughout the day. The weather was very good, and I was blessed with a fantastic entry of 62. Being out of the Great Dane World for a short time gave me the opportunity to judge the dogs in front of me having not seen any in the ring before. Overall, I was very impressed with both dogs and bitches, and it was so pleasing to witness that the breed community have and continue to protect this most beautiful breed of dog for generations to come.

Finally, My Thanks to the Show Manager, Mrs A Ellis-Khanna for a very organised and well-run show.

Class 1 – Puppy Dog / Bitch (13 Entries – 2 Absent)
1^st – MCGUINNESS & NELSON Mrs M & Mrs S – DINAHTRON PUMPKIN PIE
A large class but this one stood out for me both in outline and movement. 10 Months but looking every inch one to watch. Beautiful head with nice long foreface and correct dark eyes giving a very kind expression. Perfect dentition. Ears set correctly and a nice long, well arched neck leading to level shoulders. Nice tight feet, chest deep but not overly so. Well-muscled for age with correct tail both in length and carriage. moved effortlessly and covered the ground well. 
2^nd – Walton Miss J.R. – NOVAVIDA HELLBOY
Nice outline, Strong head, nice foreface, correct ears, deep chest, and nice tight feet. Moved well, held topline and correct tail carriage. Covered the ground with ease, if a little unsettled at times. 

Class 2 – Junior Dog / Bitch (7 Entries – 2 Absent)
1^st – MORGAN Mr N – RIMOR ATHENA’S KYSS
16-Month-old brindle – Shown in stunning condition. Very attractive head with foreface of pleasing length. The correct eyes, ears, drop of lip, dentition, beautiful long arched neck all set the picture of what a Great Dane should be. Nice drop of chest, tight feet, well balanced muscular shoulders, topline and croup leading to correct tail set. Moving well, with reach and drive and very well handled.
2^nd – Page & Concannon Ms L & Mrs T – NOVAVIDA PURPLE CALLA LILY
14-Month-old bitch. Again, a very pleasing head of good proportions. Very kind expression and nice dark eyes. Good depth of chest, correct shoulders and well-muscled throughout for her age. Moved very well and shown in excellent condition

Class 3 – Novice Dog / Bitch (8 Entries – 1 absent)
1^st – SEARLE MRS S – MURRAYVHAYLE MYSTICAL
23-Month-old Brindle that I could not take my eyes off. Beautiful strong but balanced well carried head with such a kind expression. Dark correct eyes and a dark muzzle, great dentition and drop of lip, her ears proportionate and correct. Her head is everything this breed should be. Well arched neck leading to strong shoulders and to a deep well filled chest. Nice tight feet and good angulation to fore & rear. Strong topline and croup. Correct Tail reaching just below the hocks. Moved a little erratically at times but I could capture enough to tell she was sound and moved with reach and drive. I was delighted to award her the Reserve Best in Show
2^nd – Lawson Miss C – X-Foot’s Dagas Hulda To Droolakiss (IMP SWE)
9-month-old and for her age, well balanced throughout. Her beautiful correct dark eyes, long foreface, drop of lip and correct ears give that strikingly elegant face. A little younger than some in this class but stood her ground and was handled very well, moved effortlessly. Everything is in the right place and with a little more maturity will do very well, I’m sure.

Class 4 – Post Graduate Dog / Bitch (7 Entries – 2 Absent)
1^st – CRANFIELD MISS – ZEFATHER’S RUMOUR HAS IT
20-Month-old Fawn. Another that caught my eye instantly when stacked in the ring. Such a beautiful classic Great Dane throughout. Her head is correct in every aspect. Nice level plains, length of foreface, dark eyes, correct drop of lip and ear carriage all add up to a fine example of our breed. Correct dentition. Lovely arched neck, strong shoulders, and chest of the correct depth. Tight feet, level topline. Well-muscled throughout with good croup, & correct tail set. Very well handled and moved well around the ring.
2^nd – Barnett Miss V – Dainoak Dreams of Blue at Dreamdiamont
3-year-old Blue Dog – A strong masculine head but a muzzle with more length would have completed the outlook. He is an appealing dog with many quality attributes. Nice deep chest, tight feet, strong topline and shown in really good condition. Moved with ease.

Class 5 – Limit Dog / Bitch (4 Entries- 1 Absent)
1^st – MARTIN MR J & MRS C – KEISHANT VENUS
2-Year-old with a nice head, Kind expression and correct dark eye. Nice length of muzzle, good dentition. Strong shoulders and well filled chest. Held topline well whilst moving well around the ring. Well handled.
2^nd – Dickson & Prazak P & Z – Jawa Casa Di Amici
4-year-old. A smart girl with well balanced head and good dentition. Good angulation throughout and well-muscled allowing her to move freely around the ring. 

Class 6 – Open Dog / Bitch (1 Entry)
1^st – CRANFIELD MISS – SANTANNA DAZZLING SPIRIT AT ZEFATHER JW (IKC)
Stood alone in this class but don’t let that take away from her qualities. A beautifully balanced girl with a feminine, elegant head. Nice length of muzzle, correct dentition, and nice drop of lip. Very well handled to display a long flowing arched neck leading to strong shoulders and correct depth of chest. Tight feet. Moved well and held topline and tail carriage well. Deserving of her 1^st place.

Class 7 – Special Open Harlequin Dog / Bitch (6 Entries – 3 Absent)
1^st – POCOCK MISS T & MRS L – TAMZDANE BANANAS ON THE RUM
A young Harlequin of 15 months but full of quality. Her expression is to die for, and everything is in the right place. Great head, lovely muzzle, correct eyes, and dentition. Long arched neck which effortlessly meets the well-muscled shoulders. Nicely filled chest but not overdone. Tight feet. Good tuck up and level topline leading to good croup. Tail correct in position, length, and carriage. Nicely marked and moved with reach and drive.
2^nd – Walton Miss J R – Novavida Hellboy – (See Puppy Dog / Bitch)

Class 8 – Special Open Blue Dog / Bitch (6 Entries – 1 Absent)
1^st – LAWSON MISS C – CREEK DANES OUT OF THE DARKNESS AT DROOLAKISS (IMP USA)
20-Month-old big solid dog. Great head with good length of foreface and level planes. Well placed shoulders and deep strong chest of the correct proportions. Nice tight feet. Well-muscled throughout with good angulation to fore and rear and moved very well.
2^nd – Hewett Miss – Brooke Springtime.
Nice headpiece with nice drop of lip and good dentition. Ears well set. Strong shoulders and level topline. Chest ok. Nice tuck up and level topline. Moved well but 1^st moved better on the day.

Class 9 – Special Open Black Dog / Bitch (0 Entries)

Class 10 – Special Open Brindle Dog / Bitch (1 Entry – 1 Absent)

Class 11 – Special Open Fawn Dog / Bitch (6 Entries – 2 Absent)
1^st CUNNINGHAM & GILBERT Mrs C & Mrs C – LOMONDANE CHUFFED TAE BITS
2-Year-old fawn dog who was another that really caught my eye. Good bone any well-muscled. A good head and dentition. Lighter eyes but did not take away from his overall Dane like expression. Perfect drop of lip and correct ear set. Lovely long arched neck onto strong shoulders and deep chest. Held his topline well on the move. Handled very well. 
2^nd – Pendleton – Watkins & Pendleton Ms N & Mrs H – Goldania’s Celtic Princess (AI)
Nice fawn bitch who is just under 2 years old. Kind expression, good dentition. Nothing out of place, well-muscled, good shoulders, and deep chest to the elbows with good angulation. Moved ok, holding topline and tail well.

Class 12 – Special Open Mantle Dog / Bitch (1 Entry – 0 Absent)
1^st – Pocock Miss T & Mrs L – Tamzdane Empower Mint
Stood alone in this class – From the moment he entered the ring he owned it. Such a classy young dog of only 9 months but so settled and knew what he was there to do. All credit to his owners for the time spent on this youngster. Nicely marked mantle. Very kind expression and his eyes followed me everywhere! Lovely dark eyes, beautiful length of muzzle, great dentition and drop of lip. Ears placed perfectly. Strong arched neck leading to well-muscled shoulders and correct depth of chest. Nice tuck up and level topline leading to a very good croup. Tail set perfectly placed and tail of correct length. Moved with ease, real drive. A beautifully built dog with excellent temperament who I am sure has a very bright future ahead of him. I was delighted to award him Best in Show & Best Puppy in Show

Class 13 – Special Veteran Dog / Bitch (2 Entries – 1 Absent)
1^st – CROFT MRS L & MR G – WANDERHUND STRIPTEASEAT DOUBTWELL
7-year-old Harlequin. It was such a hot day for the dogs I tried my best to keep all in the shade as much as I could, but this girl coped well. It was so nice to see this dog of advancing age really enjoying her day. She has a pleasing head with such a kind expression and great dentition. Nice level shoulder and good angulation fore and rear. She moved well and is a credit to her owners. I was very pleased to award her Best Veteran in Show
