DOGS – Elaine Robertson
My thanks to the Committee for giving me the opportunity to judge dogs at this prestigious breed show & to the exhibitors. My co-judge & I were unable to agree on BIS & RBIS which on the referee’s decision was awarded to the bitch, Tamzdane Jamaican Me Crazy with RBIS & BOS awarded to my dog, Ch Internos Challenger JW ShCM. We both agreed on BP, Danelyne She’s Got The Look For Tantallon & BVIS, Ch Foaldown Secret Love With Eppwood.
VETERAN(1)
1st King & Dolby’s Ch Foaldown Secret Love With Eppwood. Fawn who for me has a classic head, parallel planes, long foreface, good drop of lip, dark oval eye, correct ear set, good length and set of neck, level topline, brisket of good depth, correct tail set. carrying good weight & moved out with ease. BVIS over the bitch, who I had judged in the past, but she was carrying a bit too much weight.
MP(7,1)
1st Wand’s Ravendane Endless Love. Correctly marked mantle baby. Correct shaped head, narrow backskull, dark tight eye, correct ear set & size, long neck, into well set shoulders, level topline, good croup, well filled front but could have been just a tad wider, has depth of brisket & good tuck up, tight feet on good pasterns, correct rear angulations. Although he did pace at one point, when asked to move again he manged to get back into his stride. BPD. 2nd Thurlby’s Devarro Stripe It Lucky. Well grown brindle who was giving his handler a bit of a hard time, but was enjoying himself. Lovely length of foreface, dark oval eye, good size & set of ear, good drop of lip, has good set of neck, topline good but just a bit bum high, would like a slightly higher tail set, would like more width of 2nd thigh, moved ok. 3rd Collett’s Foaldown Secret Quest.
P(4,1)
1st Wand’s Ravendane Endless Love. Was an easy winner in this class. 2nd Pitter’s Rayjen Mr Baileys. Finely made blue lacking weight & width throughout. He does have a level topline although slops of at croup, good length of head & foreface, moved ok, piped his brother as he held his topline better on the move. 3rd Park’s Rayjen Refuse To Bend.
J(1)
1st Scott’s Akura Hugo The Brave. Black with good length of forface and drop of lip, a bit broader in backskull, dark tight eye of correct shape, good ear set, adequate length of neck, shoulder set ok, level topline with excellent muscled rear quarters, good angulation. He is a bit wide in front & I would like more depth to his brisket, good tuck up, good rear action but just a bit untidy in front.
Y(4,1)
1st Drew’s Lindeefay Handsome Harry. Fawn, shorter in foreface & slightly broader in backskull, square drop of lip, dark correct shaped eye, shorter in neck, good level
topline, deep brisket, good width & fill to front, good tuckup, correct rear angles, but would like a higher tail set, moved straight and won this class on his overall balance in profile. 2nd Lawson & Hunter’s Droolakiss Manson. Tall brindle with such a pleasing head, long foreface, narrow backskull, dark oval eye, lovely long neck into good shoulders, deep brisket, filled front, good feet, good tuckup, moved straight & tidy. Did think he may have my winner but he is longer cast & didn’t hold his topline as well as 1. 3rd Whitehouse’s Rosenbach Justin Time.
N(4)
1st Spurgen’s Ravendane Love Shack. Mantle who although was 4th in MP won this class easily on his movement. Correctly marked but I found the white blaze on his muzzle changed his expression & I would like a tighter eye, long foreface, narrow backskull, good length of neck, level topline, good tuck up, a touch narrow at front but was well filled. 2nd Mirando’s Danesvic Corona Dasher. Fawn who missed his yearling class as they arrived late & come into this class in a hurry with a dog who wasn’t settled. I did like his head, level planes, good length of foreface, square drop of lip, length of neck was ok, level topline, lacking width of 2nd thigh & slightly cowhocked, movement ok. 3rd Pitter’s Rayjen Mr Baileys.
PG(6,1)
1st Laidlaw’s Kantalar My Simple Heart. Fawn with the darkest of masks, good length of foreface, dark oval eye, narrow backskull, long neck into good shoulders, well filled front, deep brisket, good tuckup, level topline, good tail set, slightly over angulated in rear, movement is sound but would like more extension front & back, handled to advantage. 2nd Price & Pepper’s Baron Of Skye Via Leamap JW. Blue who gave his handler a bit of a hard time. Very pleasing head, good length & drop of lip, well filled front, deep brisket, good tuck up, level topline, correct tailset, tends to turn back feet out when stood, movement wasn’t easy to assess as he was larking about but did just enough to get his placing. 3rd Cranfield’s Zefathers Master Mind.
L(1,1)
O(2,1)
1st Dewane’s Stegill Heavy Hogwarter. Tall fawn, pleasing head with length of foreface, slightly wider in back skull, dark oval eye, parallel planes, long crested neck into good shoulders, has tight feet & good pasterns, level topline, good depth of brisket & tuck up, has good rear angulations but would like more 2nd thigh. Movement is sound & true and in the class he moved with enthusiasm, unfortunately by the time the line-up went in his head went down but I still felt he was worthy of RBD.
FAWN(1)
1st Dewane’s Stegill Heavy Hogwarter.
BRINDLE(2)
1st Lawson & Hunter’s Droolakiss Manson. 2nd Shadbolt’s Jaydania Eric Hall Into Akura. I loved the colour of this boy. Correct shape of head, long foreface, oval eye but could be slightly darker, good length of neck, deep chest with good tuck up, level topline, feet could be tighter, he stands & moves very close at rear.
BLACK(2)
1st Battersby & William’s Ch Internos Challenger JW ShCM. This boy is such an honest Dane. He has a good length of foreface, narrow back skull, but is just a little bit abrupt in stop, oval eye shape but could be darker, good square drop of lip, lovely neck into well set shoulders, excellent filled front of good width, tight feet, deep brisket, good tuck up, strong rear with good angulations. His movement is sound, straight & true. I gave him RDB in 2009 but he went one better today and was very pleased to award him BD. I held out for him for BIS as I thought his outline just flowed. 2nd Scott’s Akura Hugo The Brave.
BLUE(5)
This was a hard class to judge, as all 5 were different to each other. 1st Battersby’s Internos The Heavyweight. Won this class on overall balance & movement. Pleasing head of good length, narrow back skull, oval shaped eye, correct ear set, good length of neck, well filled front, good depth of chest, level topline but would like a higher tail set. 2nd Price & Pepper’s Baron Of Skye Via Leamap JW. 3rd Woodfine’s Jildadanes Blue Lad.
HARLEQUIN(2)
1st Battersby & William’s Internos Arizona ShCM. Not the biggest of dogs but everything is in proportion & won this class on his movement. Has a nice head shape, not the longest of foreface but has square drop of lip, parallel planes, tight mid coloured eye, ok length of neck, level topline, good tail set, muscled rear. 2nd Jefferies Darrington Domino By Danelder. Taller dog than 1st, but not as together on the move. Head of good length & shape, slightly rounder and looser eye, good drop of lip, ok length of neck, level topline, correct tailset, good angulation.
MANTLE(3)
1st Stapleford’s Madjax The Lathario. Correctly marked boy. Correct shape of head, oval eye, would prefer a tighter left eye, good drop of lip, ok length of neck, well filled front, deep brisket, good tuck up, level topline, good tail set, muscled quarters, moved out well. Won this class on maturity. 2nd Wands’ Ravendane Endless Love. 3rd Spurgen’s Ravendane Love Shack.

FREDA LEWIS MEMORIAL MEMBERS STAKES –
Sun 18th November 2012
I felt very honoured to have been invited to judge these prestigious stakes and was most impressed by all those friendly charming temperaments, almost without exception, and with the excellence of both feet and movement, most particularly when coming and going.
PUPPY DOG (4e, 1ab) The most difficult class of the day
1. Spurgeon’s Ravendane Love Shack. Substantially built masculine mantle, well constructed with good layback of shoulder and strong firm topline. Such a proud willing showman, whose excellence of movement just tipped the scales here.
2. Thurlby’s Devarro Stripe It Lucky at Justinian. Typey well marked brindle, who scored for grace and elegance with well shaped head, dark expressive eyes and excellent pigment. He too is well conformed with good shoulder and forechest but, despite being given a few extra chances and his handler’s best efforts, refused to move either freely or steadily and simply never got into his stride. He will have better days.
3. Lord & Brooks’ Hecklehaze Lord Brooks
PUPPY BITCH (6e, 2ab)
1. Cooke’s Danelyne She’s Got The Look for Tantallon. Well named since there are simply not enough superlatives to describe this glorious fawn. Already so mature in coat, body and condition, the best of outline and balance with all the parts fitting firmly into the right places. Well shaped head, lovely dark eye and kind expression. She is a joy to watch on the move, her freedom and soundness merely going to prove the excellence of her confirmation. A charming, typey showgirl, of whose golden future there can be no doubt. BP & RB in Stakes
2. Lord & Brooks’ Hecklehaze Lady Sarah. Fawn, very much a baby at just six months. Well balanced with good layback of shoulder and strong firm topline, dark eyes and pigment, in good coat and condition, she moved well for her age. Very promising.
3. Middleton’s Dinahtron Lady Luck
JUNIOR BITCH (4e, 0ab)
1. Brooker’s Beizjan Lochsong. Fawn, in the hardest of muscular condition with excellent feet. Good for size and type, well conformed with good layback of shoulder and reach of neck with strong topline. Very sound on the move
2. Cranfield’s Zefather’s Double Secret. Fawn with a very wise look in her dark eyes, good shoulder and hindquarters. Just a touch longer in body than the winner. She went well.
3. Stevenson’s Norsef Bobby’s Girl at Alahmax
POST GRADUATE DOG (1e, 0ab)
1. Cranfield’s Zefather’s Master Mind. Masculine, strongly built fawn with dark pigment and eyes, in good hard muscular condition with decent shoulder, a keen enthusiastic mover, if a touch overproud of his tail at times.
POST GRADUATE BITCH (4e, 1ab)
1. Cranfield’s Zefather’s Total Minded. Fawn with well shaped head who, I see is litter sister to the PGD winner and very similar in make and shape. She went well.
2. Drew’s Lindeefay Cover Girl. Brindle with dark eyes, of such good make, shape, type and balance, who moved extremely well but, for reasons of her own and however hard her handler and I tried, she refused to be handled so had to pay the price in the placings.
3. Burton’s Dornoir Wyrd
OPEN DOG (3e, 0ab)
1. Dewane’s Stegill Heavy Hogwater. Substantial, well built masculine fawn with good head, dark expressive eye with a very noble look about him, excellent feet. Well conformed all through with excellent layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, extremely fit, in the best of coat and hard muscular condition. . Very good mover, driving strongly from his hocks.
2. King & Dolby’s Ch Foaldown Secret Love with Eppwood. Fawn with good head and charmingly wise expression, giving the impression of being a deep thinker. He has a decent shoulder, good bone and feet. He too was in the most impressive coat and hard muscular condition.
3. Battersby’s Internos The Heavyweight
OPEN BITCH (3e, 1ab)
1. Day & Fry’s Vanmore Simply The Best for Janriche. Very well balanced, high quality typey brindle, so good for make and shape with excellent depth of chest and good forechest,, scoring on her layback of shoulder and turn of stifle, lovely head, eye and expression, holds herself with such pride. Super sound, free and positive on the move. Most impressive. B in Stakes
2. Ritchens’ Dainwoods Storm Lily to Branella. Fawn, a charming character with good depth through the heart and excellent feet who, despite her somewhat portly figure, moved very soundly indeed.
SP BREEDERS OPEN DOG (5e, 2ab)
1. Laidlaw’s Kantalar My Simple Heart. Quality fawn with lovely reach of neck, who scored on layback of shoulder, good bone and feet, in excellent coat and condition. A very good mover, just a touch overproud of his tail at times.
2. Battersby & Williams’ Internos Arizona. Strongly built harlequin with a very sweet expression, good bone and feet with strong topline. He went well.
3. Stapleford’s Madjax the Lothario
SP BREEDERS OPEN BITCH (2e, 2ab)
Jane Lilley
